We took some pics around the farm and the Shigeyoshi took me to some of their mud ponds located way off in the mountains, somewhere I'd never previously been and somewhere which has only just become accessible. Unfortunately the weather was overcast today but on a clear day the mud pond vista is backed by a view of the Echigo Mountains. I'll be returning sometime when the sky is blue!
The small waterfall running in the background will soon be diverted to fill these mudponds which currently lie empty.

Some Goshiki tosai, as every tosai appear ravenous and go crazy as soon as you go near their ponds!
In the pic above you'll notice many Tancho Goshiki, Tanaka Maruju have been working hard to produce in numbers. Oyagoi below.
And they also have 1 or 2 - thousand - Tancho Kohaku to be grown over the summer!
